Office Structure.
The District has been created from District Baramulla & started to function w.e.f. 02.04.2007. Its total geographical area is 398 Sq. Kms. Its total population as per 2011 censes is 385089 souls which comprise 16 % tribal population, 17 % urban population & 67 % rural population. There are 123 Revenue Villages, 07 Tehsils, 24 Nayabat Circles, 35 Patwar Halqas, 05 Educational Zones, 04 Medical Blocks, 12 CD Blocks and 151 Panchayat Halqas in the District.
The District has 389 Primary Schools, 329 upper Primary Schools, 04 KGBV’s, 50 High Schools, 25 Higher Sec Schools and 06 Degree Colleges. 104 private schools are also functioning in the district. The total roll of the Govt schools up to Hr. Sec. Level is 49354 and of private schools are 22581.
The district consists of 05 Educational Zones viz Zone Bandipore, Zone Gurez, Zone Hajin, Zone Quilmuqam & Zone Sumbal as per the topography of the area.
